Dental Assistant (DA)
Objective:
The purpose of the dental assistant program is to educate and train the student in preparation for an entry level position as a dental assistant in a private office or clinic. Communication, knowledge and professionalism are cornerstones of the program which allows for the execution of skills and appropriate care.
Philosophy:
The philosophy of the dental assistant program is to provide education and training for those who are interested in the field of dentistry. Students will be given information on the organizations that represent the many members of the dental team. Students will obtain an understanding of the communications required to work in or manage a dental office. Students will learn proper OSHA regulations and will familiarize themselves with federal regulations including the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and HIPAA.
Expectations and Goals:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate to patients/personnel
Perform & understand role of a Dental Assistant within a dental facility
Execute tasks/skills using appropriate procedures
Course Description:
The Dental Assistant program is approximately a fifteen-week (15) course for those interested in the field of dentistry. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position as a dental assistant in a private office or clinic. The coursework includes basic body systems and functions, oral anatomy and dental science fundamentals. The student is prepared for off-site radiology.
Class Requirements:
Class attendance and participation is mandatory
Completion of chapters & skills review
Obtain satisfactory ratings on exams
Dress-Scrubs are required before the third class
Class Schedule:
Evenings: Monday & Wednesday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
Next class starts August-September 2020 (Depending on enrollment, start date may change)
Fees:
Tuition and Books $1,200.00. $400 towards tuition is due upon registration. Tuition must be paid in full by 7 weeks from the first class or student will be terminated. Money orders or cash are accepted. Personal checks and or credit cards are not accepted.
