Phlebotomy Technician (PT)
Objective:
The purpose of the Phlebotomy Technician program is to educate and train the student to become a vital member in the allied health field. The programs exceeds the state requirements in both classroom instruction and clinical training.
Philosophy:
The philosophy of the Phlebotomy Technician program is to provide education and training to those who are interested in the allied health field. Students will have a through understanding about the various job requirements of a Phlebotomist. The program is aligned to graduate students who are proficient to perform clinical and administrative tasks and become a vital member of the health care system.
Expectations and Goals:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/personnel
Perform & understand role of a Phlebotomist within a medical facility
Execute tasks/skills using appropriate procedures
Course Description:
The Phlebotomy program is approximately a sixteen-week (16) course. The curriculum will cover medical terminology, blood & cell composition, blood sampling procedures and lab operations. Aseptic techniques and infection control procedures will be studied.
Class Requirements:
Class attendance and participation is mandatory
100 successful venipunctures through clinical rotation
Completion of chapters & skill's review
Obtain satisfactory ratings on exams
Dress-Scrubs are required before the third class
Clinical Rotation:
This program cannot place an entire class into a clinical rotation at the same time. Students are assigned when each lab site has availability.
Class Schedule:
Evenings: Tuesday & Thursday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
Next class starts August-September, 2020 (Depending on enrollment, start date may change)
Fees:
Tuition and Books $1,300.00. $400 towards tuition is due upon registration. Tuition must be paid in full by 7 weeks from the first class or student will be terminated. Money orders or cash are accepted. Personal checks and or credit cards are not accepted.
